What do you do when a hotel room, office or other occupied space has a serious odour problem — but taking it out of service for ozone treatment is not practical? ProMedUSA now has another option.

ProMedUSA Pte Ltd is the authorised RestorAir dealer for Singapore and Malaysia, supplying the RestorAir RRR-AOC-26 Rapid Room Recovery system — a portable, occupiedspace alternative to ozone generators and fogging for fast guest-room odour removal.

RestorAir adds Advanced Oxidation Cell (AOC) technology to our existing indoor air quality (IAQ) solutions. It does not replace ozone generators or bipolar ionisation. It gives us another technology for applications where occupied-space treatment or rapid room turnaround is important.

How is RestorAir different?

Many air-treatment systems depend on drawing room air through a unit before treatment can occur — only the air that reaches the unit gets treated. RestorAir takes a different approach.

The RRR-AOC-26 uses Advanced Oxidation Cell (AOC) technology: a broad-spectrum ultraviolet (UV) lamp activates a hydrated quad-metallic catalyst, producing Advanced Oxidation Products (AOPs) — hydrogen-peroxide-based oxidisers — that disperse throughout the room and react with the organic compounds behind odours and contaminants at the source, rather than waiting for all of the room’s air to be drawn across a catalyst.

Per RestorAir’s technical documentation, the AOC process produces no ozone and no formaldehyde. That makes RestorAir particularly useful where a room cannot conveniently be emptied or needs to return to service quickly.

Our Approach: Measure, Identify, Treat, Measure Again

A product is only half the story. At ProMedUSA we don’t believe any single box fixes every odour problem, and we don’t ask you to take our word for it — we prefer to establish what is actually happening in a space before recommending a solution using tools like the Atmocube IAQ monitor. Where appropriate, our approach is simple:

  1. Measure First — establish a baseline for the relevant indoor air-quality parameters before treatment
  2. Identify The Problem — determine whether the issue is primarily odour, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), particulates, humidity, ventilation or another indoor airquality factor.
  3. Treat The Problem — use the technology that best fits the application. In some cases that is RestorAir; in others it may be bipolar ionisation, ozone treatment or another solution.
  4. Measure Again — repeat the measurements after treatment so you can compare before-and-after conditions and see what changed.

This moves the discussion away from assumptions and towards measurable results. Not every odour can be measured directly, but related indoor air-quality parameters can often provide useful before-and-after evidence.

What can RestorAir treat?

RestorAir is designed for odours associated with:

  • General occupied guest-room use
  • Cigarette and other smoke (including marijuana)
  • Body odours
  • Mould and mildew — the source of microbial volatile organic compounds (MVOCs)
  • Food, spices and cooking
  • Pet odours
  • Chemicals and volatile organic compounds (VOCs)

The manufacturer’s hotelier material states that most rooms can be treated in approximately 30–60 minutes and that the unit may be used while rooms are being serviced. For hotels, that is particularly valuable when a room needs to be returned to inventory quickly.

A note on the certifications, for readers outside the United States:

  • TÜV — an independent German technical-inspection and product-safety certification body (short for Technischer Überwachungsverein), recognised internationally.
  • CARB — the California Air Resources Board, the U.S. state air-quality regulator whose limits on ozone emissions from air-cleaning devices are among the strictest references in the industry.
  • GSA — the U.S. General Services Administration, which approves products for purchase by U.S. federal government buyers.
  • TAA / BAA — the U.S. Trade Agreements Act and Buy American Act, procurement rules a product must meet to be sold to U.S. government buyers.

RestorAir, Ozone or Bipolar Ionisation?

At ProMedUSA, we do not believe one indoor air technology is right for every problem.

  • Ozone generators remain an important tool for intensive odour remediation in appropriate unoccupied spaces.
  • PurAire bipolar ionisation provides continuous air treatment for occupied environments and can be installed in rooms, fan coil units and larger HVAC systems.
  • RestorAir gives us portable, rapid room recovery for applications where keeping a space operational — or returning it to service quickly — is important.

So the important question is not “Which technology is best?” It is “What is the problem, and which technology is right for this application?” And where useful, we prefer to demonstrate the answer with measurements before and after treatment.

Tested Against Germs, Viruses and Bacteria

Beyond odour control, RestorAir’s published materials describe testing of the Advanced Oxidation Cell technology against a range of microorganisms — viruses, bacteria, mould spores and allergens — not just smells:

  • TÜV-listed. The unit carries listing by TÜV, the independent German technicalinspection and product-safety body described above.
  • Virus testing (EPA). RestorAir’s materials report third-party testing referencing the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) — the United States’ national environmental regulator — including results against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
  • Norovirus-type testing (CDC). They also cite testing referencing the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) — the leading U.S. public-health agency — using Feline Calicivirus and Murine Norovirus, two recognised laboratory stand-ins (surrogates) for human norovirus.
  • Broader contaminants. The company lists viruses, bacteria, mould spores and allergens among the contaminants the AOC process acts on, converting the organic compounds involved into stable carbon dioxide and water vapour.

These efficacy figures are drawn from RestorAir’s own published materials. RestorAir’s materials also cite use by major hotel groups, cruise operators and professional sports facilities, including Marriott and Hilton properties and facilities associated with the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers (two U.S. professional basketball teams).

Many RestorAir units are described in the company’s materials as approved by the California Air Resources Board (CARB).
