An indoor air quality report should lead to a decision. What is causing the problem? What needs to change? How will you evaluate the result?
For hotel managers, housekeepers, facility teams, healthcare operators, and commercial property owners, those questions matter more than a dashboard alone. An IAQ monitor can provide useful information. BUT…Turning that information into a workable solution takes an understanding of the building, its activities, and the source of the complaint.
ProMedUSA brings together 20 years of experience with over 1,100 customers across the region for air treatment, odour control, surface-cleaning solutions, and indoor air quality monitoring.
The starting point is the application: identify the problem, select an appropriate response, and establish how to assess progress.
Start With the Source, Not the Equipment
A persistent restroom odor, a musty guest room, and a stuffy office can require very different responses.
Restroom and trash-room complaints call for an inspection of surfaces, drains, waste handling, and exhaust. A musty room calls for a check for moisture and damp materials. A stuffy office calls for a review of occupancy, ventilation, and HVAC operation.
Buying equipment before investigating these factors can leave the underlying problem unresolved. The EPA identifies source control and ventilation as key approaches to improving indoor air quality, with air cleaning serving a supporting role.
An effective assessment asks:
- Where and when does the problem occur?
- What changes with occupancy, cleaning, weather, or HVAC operation?
- Is the source in the air, on a surface, or within the building system?
- Does the proposed response address that source?
Match the Solution to the Application
ProMedUSA’s product range offers several approaches. Each serves a different purpose; equipment selection should follow the assessment.
Ozonated Water for Surface-Cleaning Applications
Where a complaint involves residue on washable surfaces, the cleaning process deserves attention alongside the air.
The ProMedUSA SG-OzPAK Backpack Ozone Water Jet Spray adds ozone to tap water and applies it through a trigger-operated spray gun. It connects to a water supply by hose and is worn as a backpack. Applications include toilets, bin centre and grease trap rooms, stairwells, and wash-down areas for cleaning, deodorizing and sanitizing any washable surface.
UV Ozone Generators for Controlled, Unoccupied Treatment
ProMedUSA’s UV ozone generator range includes the UV SG600T36 and UV SG1200T36MiniPro and the UV SG3000, 4200, 7000 and 15,000 Series 36 Pro ozone generators (ozonisers).
These products intentionally generate ozone and require a controlled treatment process. They are for unoccupied treatment areas.
Selecting a unit requires more than choosing an output rating. The space, materials, treatment objective, and operating conditions all need consideration. Ozone treatment does not replace moisture correction, removal of contaminated materials, or routine cleaning.

PurAire Bipolar Ionization Within the ProMedUSA Portfolio
ProMedUSA also offers PurAire bipolar ionization as part of its air-treatment portfolio. This technology generates positive and negative ions for application in an air-treatment system.
The PurAire Singapore division of ProMedUSA is an important part of ProMedUSA’s airtreatment portfolio. Selection should consider the exact model, installation requirements, maintenance, and evidence relevant to the intended application.
MEASURE: Indoor Air Quality Monitoring to Inform Decisions
ProMedUSA’s IAQ monitoring portfolio includes Atmocube and Kaiterra systems.
Monitoring should be selected around the problem being investigated. A general air quality reading cannot identify every odour source or rule out every pollutant. Valid IAQ monitors used properly help prepare the initial monitoring assessment and determine the type of odour we are dealing with, and later track the effectiveness of the solution.

Agree on How to Evaluate Improvement
Before starting work, define the problem and what a successful outcome would look like.
Where measurements are appropriate, compare readings using consistent locations, instruments, and methods. Record conditions such as occupancy, ventilation, and outdoor air that may affect the results.
A lower reading can indicate improvement in the parameter measured. It does not prove that every air quality issue has been resolved. For recurring odors, also check whether the source has been addressed and whether complaints return.
Clear answers should connect the assessment to action, with realistic expectations and defined operating requirements.
Questions to Ask an Indoor Air Quality Provider
Before approving an assessment or purchasing equipment, ask:
- What is the likely source, and how will you investigate it?
- Why is this solution appropriate for this application?
- What evidence supports the proposed equipment’s performance?
- What operating restrictions and maintenance will it require?
- How will we evaluate improvement and check for recurrence?
The answers should connect the assessment to practical action, with clear responsibilities and realistic expectations.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can an indoor air quality monitor solve the problem?
No. A monitor measures the parameters its sensors support. Improvement requires action on the source, building operation, cleaning process, or appropriate treatment equipment.
What is the difference between ozonated water and an ozone generator?
The SG-OzPAK applies ozone dissolved in water to surfaces. A UV ozone generator produces ozone gas for controlled, unoccupied treatment. Their purposes and operating procedures differ.
Does ProMedUSA offer PurAire products?
Yes. ProMedUSA’s published portfolio includes PurAire bipolar ionization, alongside ozone systems, ozonated water solutions, and IAQ monitoring. PurAire Singapore is a division of ProMedUSA.
How can I choose the right solution for my facility?
Describe the affected area, the complaint, when it occurs, and what has already been tried. Share any existing readings or reports so the proposed solution can be considered in context.
